FAQ

Q: Do you work with clients with pain or injury?

A: Absolutely. When working with individuals with chronic pain I look to find the root cause of the problem and then progressively overload you to minimize the probability of re-injury. With that being said, I am a strength and conditioning coach, not a doctor or physical therapist. If you have a confirmed medical diagnosis like a torn ACL or a herniated disc, please see a qualified doctor or physical therapist. However, I CAN give you exercises and positional drills to help you with your pain.

Q: What kind of qualifications do you have?

A: I have a Master’s Degree in applied exercise science with a concentration in strength and conditioning and I’m a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA.

Q: How often should I train a week?

A: It depends on the person and their situation, but I strongly recommend training at least twice a week to get the necessary stimulus to create physiological adaptations.

Q: What’s included in an evaluation?

A: An evaluation is an opportunity for me to learn about you, your goals, and how we can achieve them. All evaluations are tailored to the individual so an evaluation may include relative motion assessments, biomechanical assessments, and/or performance assessments. This will give me an idea of which areas where we need to improve and what needs to be implemented within your programming. An evaluation also includes a workout, the length of the workout may vary depending on the length of the assessments.

Q: Do you recommend doing an evaluation before one-on-one training, group training, or monthly programming?

A: Doing an evaluation is highly encouraged for all of my clients. While I can pick up the needs of a client through a one-on-one session and talking with them, it doesn’t quite give me the “whole picture” that can be achieved through conducting various assessments. Not only can these assessments tell me what needs to be improved, it also gives me baseline measurements that can be revisited at a later date to see progress we’re making with our training.

Q: Do you offer training packages?

A: Yes! Strength and conditioning training is most effective when applied multiple days a week over a long term period of time so I want to incentivize you to develop a consistent routine to help realize long term results. This will help create enough of a stimulus to develop physiological adaptations.

Q: Do you offer nutrition/meal plans?

A: Yes, but my nutritional plans are “tweaks” to my clients current diet rather than diet overhauls which are often ineffective in the long run due to their lack of sustainability. I’d have my client complete a 7 day food log and we’d discuss easy ways where we can make improvements that they can sustain over a long period of time. A couple of these “tweaks” can help create a healthy and sustainable nutrition portfolio.

Q: How long do training sessions last?

A: My clients typically do hour long sessions but 30 minute, 90 minute, and 2 hour sessions are also available.

Q: Can I be reevaluated after training for a couple months?

A: Of course. This helps us see what progress you’ve made and see if any adjustments need to be made to your programming.
